Isn't emotional intelligence basically the modern heritage of Christian culture and acritical acceptance?
This post comes as an attempt to give an insight to the above question posed by Stone.
So, Isn't emotional intelligence basically the modern heritage of Christian culture and acritical acceptance?
Well, I would say that, although Emotional Intelligence shares some characteristics with the Christian values (empathy for example), it is the concept of Spiritual Intelligence that can claim such heritage.
Another similar concept to Spiritual Intelligence is that of Neurotheology (or spiritual neuroscience), which studies the correlations of neural phenomena with subjective experiences of spirituality and hypotheses to explain these phenomena.
For me, a simple way to correlate the two concepts of Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence, is to see them in a continuum. Someone starts to understand and listen to his own as well as others' emotions, and as his mastery increases, so does his spiritual capacity. So, in VERY simple words, Spiritual Intelligence is the highest level of Emotional Intelligence. Look at the picture 1 below. Notice the continuum of colour and how the two concepts overlap each other.
